Default Good books or information the web about rollcages?

Just what the title reads. I'm looking for good info on how to fabricate and weld a good rollcage. I've seen a few books at B&N but, nothing that great. Now with this forum I should be able to find someone who knows.

First off you need 2 main tools. One is a pipe bender (about 5k from what i heard) and 2 a good welder.

You need to be able to bend your pipes to the right spots to weld. Its really easy. I was going to make a roll cage until i found out i needed a pipe bender then i said **** it. So instead im welding a B pillar bar to a C pillar bar. Mini roll cage

Hmm.... i didnt know they had pipe benders that small, maybe now ill look into getting one myself. But the 5k one i was talking about is the big *** one that exhaust shops use that bends all sorts of pipes then you could also make a pipe wider if you want.

Pneumatic benders = Mega bling

Flinstone's style omish benders = no bling, tons of elbow grease

That's what I figured. I knew the pneumatic pipe benders were $3k+. Looking at the cost of the "cheaper" ones, plus a pipe notcher I'd probably end up buying a Cusco cage for my 240 and just welding it, since it comes bolted.

A buddy of mine got a 24 point WRC spec cage installed in his 2.5 RS. Probably the sickest cage I've ever seen. Even had that X in the back of the car. I swear that car could fly off a cliff and it'd be fine. Guess that's what it's for.

Got the exact one in my garage as we speak, accompanied by my Miller 251. Made a ced cage for my brothers silverado and everything is going peachy. Although the *** does leave the tank open... anyways, that JD2 bender works great and is mandrel (mandatory)..

http://www.scca.org download the rulebook and then see what you need to do.

For a chromoly TIG'd cage, that is cheap. If your looking for a class winning cage, $7k total shouldn't be unexpected.

would it be worth it to copy an autopower roll bar? maybe copy the dimensions and have a shop bend the tubing, then weld it myself? if not ill just try to find a used one for my DA again..
