What have you welded/fab'd lately?
I'm glad to see this new forum started on HT. I've always wanted to see what projects others have done on their own cars. Hopefully, this forum stays around for awhile and gets bigger.
Anyways, I don't have super welding skills but I think I'm fairly good. My 1990 240sx is awaiting a motor swap so I drive it to work sometimes. Well, being about 15 years old the muffler blew a hole in it.
I welded a 3/4 inch plate of steel to the muffler for now. I didn't know what else to do since that muffler wrap wasn't going to cover the fist size hole that developed.
Ignore the orange paint.. I work with only hicks and hicks only have high temp chevy orange. lol

this forum is going to be fun,
This is my down pipe, its not the prettiest but it is holding up after 1500 miles

ive only been welding a couple months and basically taught my self other than a few pointers from friends

I'm thinking about making my own IC pipes in the future. just haven't figured out where to buy them from. Might check a few local places.

Nothing special, but I welded a rear trunk brace.

Welded a nut in the inside of the pipe, and used one reverse threaded endlink so that when the bar is turned it presses outward. (to get preload, etc)
Also made a rear strut bar, but don't have pictures of it yet.

Although the photo doesn't show the finish welding, I built up adjustable upper control arms for my EF (by cutting up new Skunk2 arms).

That nice work!
We did ours a little different, we took off the scavenge pump so we could drain the turbos right into the valve covers. But we have to adjust the oil sump
We made this first and it worked great, just over 500hp...

But like all speed-junkies we wanted more and built this..

I've always wondered how the manifolds are braced towards the rear. Given the length and wieght of the turbo+wastegate per manifold it has to be braced somewhere.

There are braces that hold up each turbo, the headers dont have to support anything. The 993s as well as all the other Porsches had turbo and non turbo models, this one was non turbo. we will be running two GT30Rs and a Motec M48. The engine is still stock 11.3:1 so we are only going to run 4-6 psi for now.
This is a prelude we turbocharged last year.. 224 @ 4psi.
