hey, well my brother challenged me to a race in 1 year, and i really would enjoy kickin his A$$. he has a dodge stealth TT (1993) and its rediciulously fast.... Last year he ran a 13.4, but since then hes installed a ACT stage 1 clutch, Gutted out his pre-cat, andddddddd that could be it....

my car is a 1995 prelude vtec with cold air intake, header, rsr exhaust, Exedy clutch, Jun flywheel, spoon strut bars, new sparkplugs and wires, New axles, C&R racing radiator, Kyb agx struts and lowering springs... The car has a 128 k miles on it

anyways, im up for any inspiration and ideas? Would this work?
A Total Rebuilt engine, sprayin like 100-150 shot of nitrous?
or would i ahvet to go turbo?

suggest you search before you get flamed.

 

I suggest selling your Prelude, get a 240SX, install SR20DET/RB20DET/or CA18DET swap, upgrade the intercooler, turbo, and get an ECU programmed by Jim Wolf. You should run 12-13's.

 

100-150 shot should do it. how much money you willing to spend? what about a used supercharger 1500and maybe throw a 50shot dry maybe 300 bucks used nos kit to cool down the supercharger. im an integra owner dotn know how fast prelude go after mods but should be in 13's i dunno about 13.0 thou. or if you want to hit it for sure go get a full-race turbo kit get a good 500-600whp.

 

Here is what you need to do, NOTHING! You and I have a lot in common, my brother also has a Mistubishi 3000gt VR4(which is the same thing as a stealth TT) and I would have to spend several thousands of dollars on my engine just to be able to get close to my brothers stock engine. It does not make since that after all the money you pump into your car to make it faster you could probably buy 2 Preludes with it or 1.5 Vr4 (matters what kind of condition although). You will just be wasting a lot of money to make your engine to be heavily modded just to be able to be as fast as a lot cheaper engine that has bigger displacement and comes stock with 2 turbos. My opinion is to drive your prelude what is was meant for, a good looking, decently quick Honda car. Mostly(there are exceptions) when you think of Honda you think of a car that is very reliable, pretty much torque-less, and mostly fuel efficient. Be happy with what your car was made for. Yeah my brother brags how much faster his car is than mine, but Im going to be laughing when his car will be lucky to make it to 150k miles or if anything goes wrong with his engine and he will have to pay an arm and a leg to repair it where as my lude will probably make into the mid 200k miles and mine will probably to break down as much. If you want to beat your brother and absolutley smoke, get a car that was meant for it. Get a TA and slap a procharger to it or get a z06, that will put him to shame.

 

I don't know about 13 flat, but if you're a good driver
you can get a lude into the 13s with slicks, a good clutch
and a 65-75 shot of nitrous and your motor will last
if you take the right precautions

HAHAHA. Who cares who's car is faster. You should be more proud of being able to drive ANY car fast, not just one particular car.

If you were smart, you would challenge your brother to a race where both of you use one car. Then see who is faster. *rollseyes* Being a faster driver is more respectable than have a faster car.

Who the *** cares how fast your car is. You are not going to always have the fastest car. And besides, why waste money making a car fast. It's a COMPLETE waste. Making a car fast for little money...that's cool. Not when you spend boat loads on it.

I laugh at my BMW M3 friends. They tease me about having a Prelude. However, I laugh back when I tell them how much I spent on my car. Keeping up with them in the twisties puts a nice BIG smile on my face. It wouldn't be fun if I was doing it in a car that I dumped thousands of dollars into.

its not that you cant ask questions...its you asking questions and flaming back. They're just telling you its most likely not worth your money to try to soup up your car really quick just to beat your brother. Preludes werent made for that. I mean yeah ill agree me and my brother feud like that too...he has a hatch i have a lude. I mean we race each other but i never take it so serious even if he does shove **** down my throat. WOAH! his car is faster than mine...i mean does that make me a bitch? no...cause i know i drive a Prelude...and he drives a Civic. dont listen to these *****...

your stock motor should be able to handle a 100 shot fairly well. I would invest in a direct port system, a bottle heater, colder plugs and a fuel pump. That, on top of your setup now, with sticky tires should net you a high 12 second pass. I wouldn't put sticky tires on it till the day of the race or upgrade the axles, cause they might not last too long launching on that kind of power.

you want to find out how to make your 4 cylinder FWD car beat a turbo AWD V6? same way everyone else does. more power+more traction+less weight+good driving=lower times....figure out whatever combination works for you and do it, but dont cry because people flame you for asking such a vague and silly question.

why does everyone think its so hard to run 13s..i mean, with slicks on my car as it sits now i could run a 13.4 or 3...and i add a 75 shot and im easily hitting high 12s...doesnt cost alot of money, where are all the good drivers?wow

more people answered your question seriously than people who flamed a little...one person made the point of searching so that you could provide this thread with a little more detail on what your goals were and specific mods(parts/brands) you might be looking at...and others made suggestions that a different car might be more suitable...you got some good advice, don't take the flame so personally...

my 2 cents - get as much boost as you reasonably can (safely handle)- lose as much weight as you can - get some better tires - and go to the drag strip and practice as much as possible in the next year - improving your launch and shifts will be the one mod you improve for free...

By the way, on your other thread, it appears your compression numbers are all over the place. In all probablitly i dont think you can run 13's with that current motor. Sorry for telling you the truth, but ive had enough of these "help me make my car fast" threads.

before tony or satan come close this ****, i have one point to make:

preludes are heavy, gut the **** out, install all internals, do a custom turbo and perhaps you will beat him.

Good luck, the prelude is not much for racing on any second basis, they are sexy, flashy and good for a once in a while run, not a wrx competitor.

maybe your ss, but any car can be made to go fast and a wrx? a 4th gen vtec with a couple bolt ons can take out a wrx without a problem...

atleast this guy has a goal, he wants to run 13.0 and wants the best way to do it, it aint that complicated people, quit your whining
