No vin# on 94-95 gsr blocks?????
Is it true that 94-95 honda engine blocks didnt have vin#'s??? Im looking at a car with a gsr swap and was told this, please guys let me know as soon as possible. Thanks
True. I bought my '95 GSR brand new & there's only an engine serial #, no VIN tag on the engine. I believe the VIN tags weren't required until '96 or '97.

My trans had a sticker w/ the VIN, but it has long since come off w/ all the dirt and pressure washing, etc.

If I recall it was a white sticker w/ the VIN and a bar code on it, in the same place where the newer B18C1 trannies had a plate riveted to the bellhousing.

you could still run the eng. serrial # with the law enforcement or dmv, to check if its stolen or not.
96 was the year they require manufacturers to place vin# on almost every part of a vehicle.
btw replacement motors and trans.does not have vin# also

This is true and like everyone else said there is a serial number that is linked to a database where if a car is stolen teh auto-theft cops have it on file and run it.. shoot I could write a book on how NY cops hassled me on this and I have a legit swap...

i find that its so much easier if you keep a reciept of your swap in the glove box. so when cops try to hassle you,you could prove it on the spot.
most cop's mentality is that, if its not on their record, (jdmmotors) then its stolen unless proven other wise.
