Default Blow by

O.k I have a b16a2, what actually causes blow by. when i open my oil cap i get a decent amount of air coming out. So i would like to know what factors come into play to cause this. Is it bad to have blow by? Is it normal for high compression motors to do this? need info please!!!!

Piston rings are never 100% airtight. Gases come from the combustion chamber & leak past the rings. That's what blowby is. It's never gonna be exactly zero, but you want it to be as low as possible.

When you open your oil cap you get air pulsing out AND IN. But it feels like it's all blowing out. So opening your oil cap & feeling with your hand isn't very accurate.
