Default cross drilled/slotted brake rotors?

i did a search but nuthing came up. im in need to replace my brakes in the next couple months and been doing some price searches. anyway r slotted or cross drilled/slotted rotors worth the extra money over blank rotors? some people say slotted rotors with axxis metal master pads make a world of a difference but cross drilled/slotted rotors cost about the same. so i dont know whether to get slotted or drilled/slotted rotors. ebay has some good prices on the drilled/slotted rotors tho. also ive heard drilled rotors r known to crack. but some people say they stop really good. and some say theyre just for looks and crack. let me know wut u guys think(personal exsperiance is better ).

i have cross drilled and slotted rotors with axxis ultimates and hell yeah they slow my roll....ive had them for over a year now and they have been thru some tough braking situations and no cracks what so ever. i say if you have the extra cash get em they look really nice and stop like no other.

Cross drilled won't crack if you get real cross drilled rotors. They will brake better than blanks, but cost more at the same time.

yeah drilled/slotted rotors do look hella nice. when i get brakes im either getting brembo or powerstop/powerslot rotors. the whole set with pads would run me around 300. or if i get blanks itll be under 200.

i wouldn't recommend the blanks. I know a bunch of my homies that all have blanks complain that they warp to quickly. So i would just get the cross drilled/slotted. i have blanks on my DA with PBR metal masters. I say they suck ***. Just my .02

Do a search for Autozone blanks. Cross drilled/slotted are a waste of money and kinda for only the bling factor. Search and you'll see why.

Cross drilled/slotted rotors aren't a waste of money. The only cross drilled rotors that people complain about are the ones that are made from blanks. Real cross drilled are cast with the holes in them like the Brembo ones. If they were used only for aesthetics, then why would sports and exotic cars have them?

I'm not gonna debate over this. It's been beaten on numerous times on H-T and if you haven't been around long enough to read and search before posting, then i recommend reading up on as many archived posts as possible before spreading more false information.

Most exotic sports cars will not be subjected to prolonged beatings on the brakes, like a day at the track. At high speeds, the drilled rotors will move gas away from pads which cause brake fading, but the blanks will actually dissipate the heat from the pads to prevent fading. More meat on rotors = more heat to absorb.

To the original poster. Spend the extra $$ if you want on fancy rotors, but Autozone blanks are unbeatable. Remember that brakes are wear items.

I've had my Autozone rotors forever. I actually went through a set of pads before the rotors went out. Started to think my rotors were warped when I brake at high speeds, but all gone after getting my alignment done.

Just go with Brembo blanks then.

ill probably save a little money and get brembo blanks and some axxis pads. that picture of the autozone rotor scared me cause my stock brakes right now look like that but not as bad. not sure wut brand they r tho and i dont even work my brakes that hard. i just want some quality brakes that perform better than stock and thatll last a while with some "spirited driving".

Yes they are, yes all of them will crack, and they have them because exotic cars are not dedicated track cars, they are driven by mid life crisis men.

ok then....all of them crack....i guess ill just let you know when mine do
but for now i have had no problems at all and i definetly noticed more stopping power from the cross drilled and slotted.

Ive got powerstop all the way around and it makes a major difference compared to the stock blanks. High speed braking with the blanks caused massive brake fade but no longer. The crossdrilled stop nicely.

yes, all of them crack its a matter of time.

You noticed more stopping power? Thats funny because drills and slots don't enter the equation of brake torque.

brake torque = (disc radius) (clamping force) (coefficient of friction) / 12

dont argue w/style about brakes. blanks are better. end. everything points to blanks, more surface area and all that. just listen to the man. oh, and save yourself the money.
