i hate to ask, but, stickiest/cheapest tyre for 16x7" wheel.
I know EVERYONE in their mother asks this... but, i seriously need some other opinions.
I'm preparing for a race that consists of autocross, time trials, and a drag race.
I want the set of tyres to last thru all three, with emphasis on the time trials and autocross traction. If the tyres last longer, that would be UBER great, since I'm a budget racer.
I'm not looking to spend more than $150 per tyre.
So far, it seems like my choices are:
Falken Azenis Sport - 215-45/16 - $98/ea
Toyo RA1 - 225-50/16 - $171 shipped/ea -- this was the absolute borderline of spending.
Kumho Escta V700 - 205-45/16 - $128+shipping
are there any other GOOD choices? I've had good experiences with the Azenis at HPDEs... but, they get greasy.

If you want it to last... the 215/45/16 Azenis.
Otherwise, Kumho Vicotracers. The Ecsta V700's suck, and you may not be able to get enough heat in the RA1's for autox. There's also the Hankook R-tire, but I dont know if they come in 16" sizes or if they're good for autox or not - but they are cheap.

Re-check your Toyo price with http://www.philstireservice.com
Your profile doesn't indicate where you are so shipping might be an issue but I got my Toyos from Phil for less than other sources even after he sent them from NY to NC.

they'd be shipping to Vegas....
hmmm... the victoracers might be an option. I ran those all in 2002 and loved them...

More info about this race would be helpful in the selection.
I would use the Kumho because they will average the best performance across the three events.
Best at autocross (given the selection), second best at TT (behind RA1) and I would guess tied in drag race if you're allowed to heat up your tires before your run (if not then Kumhos win).
It also matters how much stock is placed in each event. If it's mostly TT with a little AX and Drag then RA1. Otherwise the Kumho.
When you say you want the tires to last what do you mean? Last through the three events? Last all year?

well, all three events (considering the TT will have roughly 4, 20-30 min sessions)... and I would LOVE for it to last longer than that...

you're kidding right? That is the ENGLISH spelling of those words. a long long time ago some stupid people came to this country and started spelling things wrong. Like tire, color, flavor, airplane, etc.

aeroplane is the proper spelling, because it uses aerodynamics not because it flys in the air

yeah yeah . . . . . I do have a British passport, but I'm married to an American Citizen, so I can call them tyres and/or tires if I want to

How about aluminum and aluminium.
How about aluminum and aluminium.
soft compound road race slicks. your car is light, should last quite a while. besides, since you auto-x in D Mod anyway, im suprised you have not used slicks already. i used some a while back in D Prepared, when i used to run the CSP CRX. great fun !
