I'm such a ricer...

so... we have here a 12.19" rotor and 4 piston wilwood brake kit.
Retail cost: $650.
as some of you remember, i purchased a running '95 Integra GSR about a month ago for $2300.
pulled the engine, stuck in my CRX.
pulled some of the performance parts off of the Integra, sold them.
Except... the 12.19" brake kit it had, however, the integra's brake kit had slotted and (gay)drilled rotors.
Checked to see if the whole kit would bolt up without any modifications to a Civic/CRX knuckle. nope. Called Wilwood for a price on the caliper mounting brackets...
$70 later, I have 12.19" front brakes... and drum rears, HA!
Overkill? Absolutely. The two-piece 12.19" rotors are about 2lbs heavier than the 9.5" rotors. The calipers are much lighter though.

I played around with the brackets, bolting them up to the knuckles. I'm still deciding whether or not i should just buy extended studs for these knuckles and replace the wheel bearings, that way, i'll have an extra set of knuckles laying around with good hubs.
but, wheel bearings at $60/ea...ball joints are around $45/ea. $220 to rebuild two knuckles with extended wheel studs.
The next issue is getting 16s that fit. I have Enkei RS-Evolutions... they need spacers to fit over the calipers. next...finding race tyres that FIT on the 16x7 wheels (outside of Hoosiers and V700s)

If it were me I would sell the integra kit for a big chunk of change, and upgrade the crx brakes with like 90-91 ex knuckles. That way its an upgrade, but you can still run smaller tires. Thats just me tho.

Is there really going to be an advantage to having the huge brakes? I mean you'll never have to worry about fade, but I'm sure you could have similar braking with smaller (cheaper) brake in that light *** HF of yours...
And with the money you save, you can buy us all drinks when we come to Vegas this winter...

I did! I hated the dynalites. crap calipers. I love the 9.5 oem brakes. they work fine and haven't faded ever.
but, I had these laying around, figured... I got 16" wheels laying around too. why not bolt them up. the calipers are the stronger, less flexible ones. The fastbrake kit has the unforged dynalites which are bunk.
Plus, I only plan on using these brakes for one set of races
There's no real performance gain, since I can lock up my brakes with the 9.5" brakes on r-compounds. hence, I'm such a ricer

LOL. I get it now.
Nice. I'm TRYING to get a local guy's Fastbrakes setup locally, BRAND NEW, NEVER INSTALLED for about $500. I hope I can get my greedy little paws on em.

uh oh, the brakes are on...
gotta bleed them tomorrow and put the wheels on. i'll get pictures then.
cheapest 12" brakes i've ever had. $80 for the kit!!
now, time to find some good r-compounds for the 16x7 wheels.
wait, what am i talking about, my damn car doesn't start!!!
