96 and 98 ITR motor differences?
HELLO EVERYONE!
A stupid person question...newbie kinda to Honda, don't get me started with Mazda Rx-7s though, anyway.
Im just Curious, because the 96+ seem to average about 1000 cheaper... I am planning on getting one to put into my 92 civic si. Is one obd1 and the other obd2? Or is it subtle differences like gearing in the tranny, compression, torque, forged rods or crank or non-forged?
Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks!!!

Since you are mentioning a 1996 ITR motor which they don't make in the USA I'm guessing your looking at JDM engines. The Horsepower and torque specs are the same and the compression is the same 11:1...Main differences are the 1998 and up has the 4.785 final drive and the 4-1 header while the 1996 and 1997 have a 4.4 final drive and a 4-2-1 header.
Hope that helps
