The thing that bothers me most is WHY swap in a b16?

Offer him the price of an ITR shell, cuz basically that's what it is. You can get B16's all day long for $2k+. An ITR swap minus the LSD tranny will go around $3500-up.

I wouldn't buy it unless it had an R engine in it already. At least not for $15k. Maybe half that price.

1,400,000 pennies!

B18 to B16

Sounds like a theft recovery to me.

BTW, you beat me to it, but I was going to say that you should buy it if it has the wing and front lip b/c those are the two most important determinants.

Whatever. You could start with a Type R, swap in a LS motor with an auto tranny and 4 hub lug conversion, paint it red, and it would still be a Type R. Just ask Hubjub

Just kidding. But seriously, the best part about the car is the handling, get it anyway. Maybe you can find a torquier motor for it someday.. b18c1 with the same turbo, or a b18c5 if you can ever find one for a decent price.

I would skip it if your looking to make an investment and keep the caR.

If your looking to make a track or drag ***** out of it then offer 10k and nothing more...

Btw hows the title?

Get the VIN and do a CARFAX.

Ask the seller why teh motor was swapped. If he doesn't give you a legit answer that matches the CARFAX - run away

well of course if he had the type engine he wouldnt just take it out ... it was cracked from previous owner he said because he was running it all motor and did too much to it and it cracked one time he was racing...so instead of buying a 4k type engine he saved money and bought the cheapest vtec which would be the si engine .. sry guys it think it was 2000 not 2001 .. so the whole car is a type r except for the engine .. stock strut is still there he has stock manifold and headers .. so i think if someone was gonna steal it they would take that too

you guys think 11k is a good offer or should i go lower ??

Yeah! I wouldn't buy it. you buy a itr for the motor not the shell. If you want a itr invest that 15k into a rs shell then buy a B18c5 motor it would be cheaper than 15k and you would have a itr. or just buy one off another member.
