Somebody said a caved in lifter or rocker arm ..

couple people say rod nock ...

In the beginning of the clip you can hear it sort of subtle .. this .. nok nok nok nok .. its in the lower end of the engine for sure .. but when I rev it it sounds like a naaaaasty *** big diesel engine .. and thats all top end noise .. hella loud ..

I dont really care about this engine, im ready to do a swap as soon as it dies.. who knows when the timing belt was done last .. anyways, i think its done .. ETA's anybody ?

What will happen as im driving it, what will go ? ...

 

sounds to me like the person who said rocker arm was correct. have you taken the valve cover off yet to see..lol?

 

i haven't heard the clip, because im at work, but I would say that I have known more H23's to have rod knock (spun bearing) then I have heard that have issues with their rocker arms. So i will take a guess and say rod knock.

 

sounds exactly. like mine, and everyone tells me (havent pulled the head or cover yet) that it's rockers or lifters. hopefully its not rod knock..

 

well as the spun bearing gets worse, eventually the car will be very hard to move, and make more and more noise, and then geto a point where it just is so fucked it can't spin the crank, and once it dies its not going to start agian.

ITs GONE its dead it seized up today when I got home .. its drinking oil , the oil light was flickering while it was making this sound ...

as soon as I parked, this is the sound clip i got.. soon as the clip ended .. it died.

 

drain your oil, see if there's metal shavings in it.

 

mine seized up while i was driving.....had to push it like 1/2 a mile home....but on the brightside i love my new motor so much more

I'll be looking forward to my newH22 also .. I drove a buddies vtec last night, it was my first H22 vtec experience... I've got an engine lined up for a good price at the same place he bought his.

Can't wait to get on the road again,its going to suck not being able to rev while I break in the new clutch but .. much worth it in the long run.
