as you know just like the title says i have an 99 integra with an apexi rs catback exhaust that is a very tight fit. Its so tight that the rear b-pipe actually touches the rear heat shield right near the gas tank of the car. From what I understand is that you can remove the heat shields off the car and have no problems, but my concern is that the pipe will be about less then 1 inch away from the gas tank. Do you think I should take the heat shields off the car or just live with the rattle that I get every now and then?

 

are you using the original rubber hangers? it may be time for some different ones so your exhaust hangs a little lower and you can keep the heatshield

 

yes i am using the stock rubber hangers but i'd rather do away with the heat shields because they simply just rattle like crazy at times. i don't want the exhaust hangin too low. the way it is now is nice but too close to the rear heat shield. any suggestions or just use different hangers?

one thing for sure is that everything is a tight fit and I'm not sure if i can make it hang lower because of the 4-1 jdm header and carsound cat. Let me know what I should do.

 

Rip the heatshields out, and if you are really concerned you can fab. one yourself to cover the gas tank.

 

all my concern is will it damage the gas tank in anyway? if not then i'll just remove them. i'll be happy with that.
