Default Clutches, what are you running?

Ive been looking at the exedy...toda...spoon. What do you run? Three puck sprung hub or full face for exedy? What flywheel....I'm leaning towards the toda since Ive heard of grinding problems with the Spoon. Any comments, opinions, questions? The car is daily driven and will be weekend raced...I dont care if my pedal is really stiff, I just dont want to have to launch the car at every light to avoid stalling or bad chatter. Thanks for your help.

Contrary to what most people have said regarding Clutchmasters, I have had excellent results with their stage 1 clutch. Pedal pressure is the same as stock, and it can put up with a LOT more abuse than the stock ITR clutch.

This is what I ran on my B20 in the past, and when it's time to do my clutch on my Integra, this is what I plan to install.

Other than that, the stock ITR clutch is surprisingly good. My old DX hatch was making high 180s/low 130s at the wheels, and it put up with lots of aggressive street driving and lots of hard launches at the drag strip.

FWIW, another friend of mine ran around for a year with a stock ITR clutch no problems on a LS/VTEC making 190+ at the wheels. Pressure plate eventually broke after a year... but for a OEM clutch, that's good if you ask me..

How stiff is the pedal feel with the Exedy organic clutch? I'm looking for a soft pedal engagement. How much do they cost? I'm interested in buying a clutch and flywheel combo. Any suggestions.

LOL. If you are referring to the one on CSI, don't believe that pricing. We stock the Exedy and our cost is more than that. I doubt, one, that they have any stock, and two, that they will be able to deliver. Just some advice.

i will be putting on a new Clutchmasters clutch (AIY-HD00) and Comptech flywheel next week. my engine is pretty stock which is why i choose that clutch - the clamping force of the pressure plate is a little stronger than stock and that clutch holds a little more power than stock. that is all my engine needs. i went with the Comptech flywheel because every other manufacturer (spoon/jun/toda) was build on the JDM starter and the Comptech was not. That is what i was told by each manufacturer when i talked w/them about starter issues. this may or may not be true but i feel at ease using the Comptech. HTH

The Toda Flywheel has beveled teeth, so as to work with what ever starter you have. We have sold quite a few of both the Toda and Spoon with no complaints...but dont want to get into the Al vs Chromoly debate again...

Actually:
Spoon ~9.3 lbs
Toda ~9.1 lbs
BUT - The difference is WHERE the weight lies. The mass of the Toda is concentrated at the hub, while the Spoon seems to have it removed across the surface. Take it for what it's worth. I prefer the Toda and I am sure I am not alone.
