Default Honda Oil Filter. Some questions.

I just bought a few OEM Honda oil filters. A couple for my Civic and a couple for my girlfriend's Accord.

Now...

Is it true that Accord and Civic (and probably other SOHC models) share the same filter? Part # 15400-PLM-A01 is the correct # right?

Also...

Why are these filters soo small? Will they provide sufficient filtration? I just compared one of these to a Fram Double Guard I had lying around, definitely smaller diameter and length.

Thanks.

b/c thats how they are now. if you would still like to get the larger "made in japan" oil filter use this part #: 15400-PCX-004.

all filters are the same filters made by filtech now, accept the s2000 is larger, that is the only exception, you can use them on a civic many do

first it was filtech, then honeywell, then fram, now filtech again

do NOT use fram...i have the seen the quality of fram filters first hand many times, bad filters, even when they made hondas filters

So it's fine that they are a bit smaller than normal? Indeed, these say "Filtech Made In Usa". Just wanted to know if these filters are sufficient and if they are also compatible with an Accord motor (F22B1 SOHC VTEC).

Coo. I guess I'll just use these up and then switch over to a S2000 OEM filter. Thanks.

pressumming the engines are the same as the uk modals we always use the larger filters and yes the same filter will fit nearly all hondas appart from the very old modals, and i mean old.

I see. Next time I'll buy the S2000 filter for the Accord and the Civic. Maybe I'll just return these tomorrow when I pick up a socket I got from them and exchange for S2000 filters. Thanks all.

honda filters are garbage, i used to work at acura, trust me on this. the old ones were good, but they are getting harder and harder to find. Honda got cheap and the new ones suck, personally id spend the extra money and get mobil 1 filter, they are good with conventional and synthetic oil... although they cost more initially it will help you engine prolong life, saving you lots of money in the end. just my .02

Not all honda filters are the "same". Some use different filters in size but will work in other cars (s2000 filter to say a civic filter). They are different in sizes but they do have the same threads on them so they will on either car. Some Acuras use a completely different filter in size and the threads in which they are screwed on are also different and these are not interchangable.

They also use different oil weights varying from 0w20 to 10w30.

some people worry about the wrong things (IE oil filters and what type of oil)
just make sure that they are changed at 2500 miles and you are set to go

if you are worried about the filter get a HAMP filter I've been using those and they are pretty good. keeps my oil pretty clean. I'm using Mobil 1 5 - 30 with a HAMP on a RSX. I change my buddies 98 spec B18C with the same thing but with a 10 - 30 oil. he seems to burn alot more oil then me but I think he hits vtec to much
