Found my badge number? Anyone have 1997 ITR #345?
After around a mounth of calls, phone #'s, and names I contacted the origional owner of my 97. He said it was #345. He didn't sound like a car guy and wasn't really concerned about the badge # when he had the car, so I'm posting this just to make sure he was right and no one has this #.

No way! That's crazy b/c I actually have that #. I'll post pics in about five minutes. You know you just can't trust people these days. BTW, just kidding. Congrats & you are one of the few who's actually recovered the number.

It really does, oh well, I'll take it. If i had my choice I'd call the guy again but I don't want to bug a non-car-guy for something he would think is insignificant.

if you have a compitentparts guy,do vin check on hondanet, they could get the selling dealer #. from there they could find out where it was sold first.that dealer should have the original owner's info.(at the time they bought the car). assuming the dealer is not willing to release that info, you could leave the dealer your contact, and beg and hope they follow thorugh and contact the original owner.
you might be lucky and they might have wrote down the production # on their file. bring the car as proof of what you are doing. so you don't look like a stalker.
another way is through dmv, go get a vehicle history report. tell the supervisor you want to contact the original owner, they will take your info and pass it to the original owner.
but the original owner does not have to contact you. so its a 50-50chance.

Honestly, I think the real answer to that is no; however, an Acura employee did hazard the number 318 for the '97 USDM model.
I really believe this has to be an error, and feel the number is closer to 750, based on numbers available to use from club registrations...unless a couple hundred people are just outright lying about the cars they own.
For the other USDM model years (1998, 2000, 2001) I think you're safe with supposing there were 1500-1800 for each of those model years.
Once again, however, people are willing to hazard precise and lower numbers. I just don't think that's right, once again judging from club registration numbers, and in the later years taking into account numbers of RTR cars used in the USDM and produced for the USDM.
There's nothing but controversy surrounding the production numbers, and I don't think we'll ever really know. Honda seems to feel that they like the air of mystery surrounding the production numbers.

There is sufficient and compelling evidence that the ITR production numbers for 97 and 98 are readily available (318 for 97 and 1038 or some such number for 98).

Congratulations on getting in touch with the original owner and persevering with your search for and answer.
Now, just go with it or make something up (like your screen name) to put on the armrest badge.

Oh, Ed.
I'm willing to be persuaded, but as of this moment I don't see anything that I'd regard as compelling, much less sufficient, assuming we're using sufficient and compelling with their common pleas implications.

Oh George ...
I can understand the uncertainty with respect to the number(s) of ITRs sold in the US in 00 and 01, but the previous letter(s) which have been posted wrt to 97 and 98 should be taken with a good deal of credibility.
One of these days I'll be in the market for an NBP or FBP, but not for another couple years.

Maybe I should have waited till after GK's bedtime before posting.
Also, I Guess George has some very high evidenciary standards if he's not willing to recognize the following as factual information.
