SRS Light came on today
My SRS light came on today..i have no idea why...Has this happened to anybody else? if so what did you have to do to get it removed..i cehcked all my fuses and everything is o, would i ahve to go to a dealer? I know they'll charge me some ridiculous amount of money to fix. Thanks for nehelp you guys can give me
I hope somebody could help me out cause i know i wont pass inspection with the lght on and i have inspection at the end of this month. I just really dont ahve the money rgiht now to bring it to a dealer and get it fixed.
This is covered in the factory service manual. I think that you have to jumper the connector for the CEL (blue connector located above the passenger side kick panel in a green rubber mount). Turn the ignition off for at least 10 seconds, jumper the connector, and turn the ignition to the run position. The SRS light should flash codes if any are stored.

there is a little green cover under the passenger side dash with a plug and 2 wires in it. Jump the two wires and turn the ignition to the on position and count the flashes of the srs light. Youll have to call acura to find out what code it is by the # of flashes it makes. Use a paper clip or a piece of wire to jump the wires
DON'T JUMPER IT! I hate to say it but if you don't have a scan tool too find out what code it is you need to take it in. There is a connection where you do jumper it <U>but you you need the OEM resister connection to clear the code and recieve it</U>.
i did i just left it on my 00si, the airbags aren't goin to work till code is clear. People with aftermarket steering, airbags don't fit on it has the lights on some just pull the light bulb off.

Well you could try to reset it, but you need to be sure that you don't have any loose connections otherwise it will not turn off.
Some ways that you could have triggered it is, if you removed the air bag while the battery was still hooked up, or you accidentally removed the SRS fuse could have also triggered it.
Anyway, there is a procedure to reset it. it involves locating the yellow SRS connector that is under the dash plugged into the side of the Fuse box but has no connectors on the fuse box side. (it is just a holder for the plug)
You need to find yourself a paperclip or the CEL connector that someone mentioned, BTW, all it is, is a connector that loops back to itself.
not sure if I remember correctly, but here is the procedure:
Plug in both ends of the paper clip to the yellow connector mentioned above,
turn the key two clicks so the lights come on,
the srs will turn off, unplug the paper clip, then turn on, plug back the clip, turn off, unplug, turn on plug.... you get the idea... you do it several times, and if there is nothing wrong with the system, it will flash twice and turn off. (now you have sucessfully Cleared the SRS system memory. Remove the key.
(Note: you take your own risk trying this, but it worked for me when I removed my Driver's steering wheel and airbag without disconnecting the battery, to put the JDM one on.)

It will not give you a CEL code, as it has nothing to do with the Check Engine.... SRS is another separate part of the Car they are not related.
BTW, that connector that you plug on the green two pin connector under the passenger dash is nothing more that a wire that loops back to itself, you can do the same thing with a paper clip.

Ok let me make it clear. The srs is a non intergral system it has nothing to do with the ecu. Its another system. You can't turn off the srs light with a wire or clip. You need a special Oem resistor. IT'S NOT LOCATED AT THE SCS (LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE) its located under the steering assembly. You cannot disconnect the battery to clear the code, the code permantly stays till its clear. And yes it does have a code so it can distingush which airbag or part of the system has a problem. Hello its OBDII!

Dude, I already turned off the SRS light that was on when I removed the driver's side Airbag to replace it with the JDM one. All I used was a paper clip... that SCS connector maybe resistored, but a paper clip works all the same, I did it already! My car is OBD2 96 GSR....

Dude, do your research, I already said I had done it before myself, when I tripped on the the light by removing the Driver's AirBag. Anyway, I found the proper instructions to reset the system, and like I said before, if all connections are good, and nothing is bad, the light will turn off after the system is reset.
here are the instructions originally posted by "RSXMACHINE"
an OBDII scan tool won't do it. the fancy high-tech tool you need is a paperclip made into a small U-shaped jumper.
1) turn ignition off.
2) remove access panel under steering column and look at the fusebox. there is a yellow 2-pin connector, unplug it from the fusebox. plug your paperclip jumper into the connector.
3) turn ignition on to position II.
4) SRS light will come on for 6 seconds then it will turn off. within 4 seconds of it going off, pull the jumper out.
5) SRS light will come on again, reconnect jumper within 4 seconds.
6) SRS light will turn off again, remove jumper within 4 seconds.
7) SRS light should blink 2 times to indicate it has been cleared.
8) turn ignition off, wait 10 seconds, turn ignition on to II, SRS light should operate normally (turns on for 6 seconds then goes off).
It's a little tricky, timing is the key, it might help to have a friend watch the SRS light for you. If you don't get the double-blink in step #7, you need to start over.

Thanks for all the info guys..I'll have to try those instructions out...Is it dangerous doing it this way? will the airbag be triggered at all and go off?

You don't even have to do that! Just take the cluster out and only disconnect the yellow plug on the back of it, the SRS light wont come out...and no need to take a bulb out.
That's what I did on my LS when I put the Momo wheel on.
