3" exhaust Make a huge difference? and other questions
Currently Im at 230 WHP in my gsr integra running on a 2.25 N1 on 7 psi, I have the drag turbo kit stage 2. I was just wondering if a 3" exhaust makes a difference in the hp im ganna make. Im looking to make more power and boost more without major work. If i got new pistons do I have to bore it out?
thanx

It will help with turbo lag. I can't say for sure how much horsepower it will free up. If you get aftermarket forged pistons you won't have to bore out your sleeves unless you get anything bigger than 81mm pistons.
yea i was debating the same thing...ive heard that it will help out alot...i have the same exhaust u have...i was looking to get a 3"dp and full 3" exhaust and taking out my cat
3" exhaust will deifntley help with lag and you should realize a horsepower gain the car may need minor retuning.
If you repalce pistons you should minimum hone out the cylinders

yah honeing doesnt take any material off it more just scuffs up the cylinder walls so that your rings seal better...
and as for exhaust... the best exhaust on a turbo car is no exhaust, so bigger the better...

I felt a difference in 3" exhaust. I have or say my old worn setup ls turbo. I had a drag kit with a 2.5 dp to my stock exhaust. It would only go to 7lbs on my gauge everytime no matter what. When I got the 3" exhaust put on to the 2.5 dp. It would go to 10lb and stay there. It pulled real hard, I never suspected it to do that much of a difference. Is that spiking though?

Dunkd im going to have to disagree with the information you have provided regarding the best exhaust being no exhaust for a turbo charged vehicle.
Turbos do love flow but no exhaust would not work correctly

You've been misinformed. I picked up 10 whp unbolting the dp on the dyno. And that's going from a straight 2.5" exhaust (no cat), and an Apexi N1 muffler (straight through)

No i haven't been misinformed no exhaust on turbo would mean no exhaust which would include no downpipe not unbolting the "catback"
If you mean unbolting the cat back rear section whatever you wanna call it of course you are going to pikc up power you are removing a restriction that obvious
So you removed your downpipe from your turbine housing?

for sure upgrading to 3inche will help the lag...however i saw some dude was talking about 2.5 connect with 3muffer pipe..that aint a smart idea...u rather have all pipin at 2.5 or 3..can't be both...could be both but i believe u will lose hp or gain less than u expected...
i know u guys know but...hey some don't...
3" piping with 7psi push is good, and 2.5 is cool not bad...but upgradeable...

I should've been more clear... the best exhaust on a turbo car is no exhaust behind the downpipe. obviously having no downpipe at all would be dumb.

No, I meant that running the least exhaust possible was best. I didn't mean no downpipe. My tuner makes close to 600 whp and on his race setup the downpipe ends right below the motor. My point was that the less restriction the better. I should have been a little more clear.

When people say "the best exhaust is no exhaust for a turbo car"
The ones that knows, know that we are talking about Open DP.
Anyways, I had a 2 1/4" exhaust on my turbo before and when I cut that bitch off since it did not fit anymore the turbo spools up a lot quicker but the boost still stayed at 8psi.
This weekend 3" exhaust is going on the car, it's getting kind of loud with the echo in the cabin.
