anyone ever had to have an AMB transponder repaired?

anyone ever had to have an AMB transponder repaired?
hi guys. friend of mine has a hard wired AMB transponder. suddenly stopped working. we checked, and it definitely has 12.8 volts going into it with a good ground. no green light, though 
where can i send it for service? anyone needed work done on one?

i already tried them; their response was:
"sorry, its out of warranty (purchased in 2000). you should buy a new one!"
i said "thanx".
