What are some prices you guys paid to get your AVIC-N1 installed and for what car? Did you have to pay for additional parts?
Would you recommend them to your friends and family?

wow... its like a legend
and yeah, I can install it myself but I'm curious as to what other shops are charging. We usually charge about $300 w/speed sense wire hooked up. May sound easy to you but some cars are really difficult to find the VSS wire.

My shop installs DVD units free of charge. The reason behind this is to push the sale. Alot of guys who are debating buying these units feel more relaxed when you tell them the we will install it for free.

No. You do lose some money, but generally, these are the guys you get down the road to buy the full sound system. We generally make about 25-30 points on a DVD sale.

there's a shop in a town near here where they let you take the overheads and what not for "test drives". You get to use them for a couple days and decide if you like it or not. If so, then you pay up the full price, if not then you get refunded. I'd be worried of people never comming back to pay
I normally charge around $200.00 plus any extra part, of course, the customer gets a lifetime warranty on the install and it's certified installed.

$225 for install. plus the dash kits & harness. minimum.
figure that to take carefully take apart the car and neatly place all the components and wire it up will take a good installer who knows and cares what he is doing up to four hours in a your "average" car.
When it comes to paying for install, usually paying too little will get you a hack job with the brain stuffed wherever it can fit first and a rats nest of wires.
