HONDA-TECH GURUS-- NEED HELP
Ok I got code P0441.. incorrect purge flow.. so
What and where is this purge valve!!!
and do I change the whole purge canister ? I saw them for sael but NO PIC so I dont even know what/where it is.. I heard its by the I/M somewhere.. anyhow I think they are like $40 online new, is that the cause of the problem??

My '95 canister is below the battery, but yours must be '96+ since you give an OBD-2 code #... Did Honda move the canister back near the gas tank???
Besides, you ought to check out the hoses & valves in the system. You got to find out what's broke before randomly replacing stuff.

There is a valve located on the top of your intake manifold with a black line going from it down to underneathe the battery box. That's the purge canister. But if it is incorrect purge flow, I bet it is the valve that is located on the IM.
sorry guys its a 96 4 door teg
so were saying its THESE valves?

#9 is the purge control solenoid. It supplies vacuum to tell the purge valve to open & close. I thought the actual purge valve is on the canister, bottom center of the picture. The actual purge flow goes thru a bigger hose that's not shown here. Maybe the purge valve is not available separate from the canister?

But just knowing what the parts are called, that doesn't prove what's broken or clogged...

I bet one of the small little beads of charcol came loose and got lodged which could cause the incorrect purge flow..
But that's just what I remember..

Since my Integra is OBD-1, I can only say kinda general things. A Helm book will have all the gory details, but it usually goes something like this...
You can check the solenoid itself by applying power to it. Use a MityVac to see if it holds vacuum. I'd guess it's normally closed & it opens when energized.
Then check the circuit that powers it. Probably it's supposed to get battery voltage whenever the car is turned on. The ECU closes the ground side of the circuit when it wants to energize the valve.
Then check the purge valve on the canister. The Helm book will say whether the purge valve on the canister is supposed to hold vacuum. I suppose it'll hold vacuum, but then it's supposed to flow when vacuum is applied to the smaller, top connection.
