Default Smelly AC on 1989 Integra LS

I did a R-134A retrofit on my AC this summer that came out very well in terms of cooling. However sometimes the mildew/mold smell is rather bad and in fact the next day I feel a bit congested from breathing it. I tried an AC evaporator cleaner from Advance Autoparts, but the smell came back. Does anyone know what I can do to clean out the AC so this smell goes away completely? I assume the smell is in the evaporator as that is where all the condensation is when the AC is on.

Yeah, it is. I had a freon leak in my evaporator and had to change it out for another to get rid of the smell. The smell was coming from the styrofoam that was in the evaporator box it was covered in grime and freon. I would reccomend taking the box off and cleaning it out, but there may be an easier way.

Thanks for the info. I tend to thinkit mightbe AC PAG oil becuase the R-134A boils at around -10 F so there won'tbe any present at room temperature there. Anyway, thank you.
