radiator leeking
hay guys my rad is leaking from the top I can see it just under the brown plastic part between the metal teeth, any ideas is it the whole rad or can it be saved... ntw its a 94 integra
This is a common problem on Integras. The plastic top of the radiators tends to crack around 100K miles. It's not worth trying to repair the radiator. Just get a replacement one from http://www.radiatorbarn.com . It'll be about $100 shipped to your door. They also have fast shipping and good CS.
The plastic tops of our stock radiators are imfamous for cracking. Be thankful for all the miles you have gotten out of it.
I you can see the crack, you could try to repair it with JB weld. Ive heard of that working before, but more than likely it will just crack again in a different spot.
I forsee a new aluminum radiator in your near future.

so you guys knoe exatcly what i am talking about, its the teeth that hold i guess the top part of the rad to the bottem you can see it just under the plastic part. anyways hoe bad is it if i drive on this broken rad for a little while before changing it, i will be keeping an eye on the rad fluid level...
it shouldnt be too horrible, it might allow air to get in the system and that is never good, but just keep an eye on the coolant level. Try to seal it up with the JB Weld for a temporary solution. that stuff is amazing!
If only temporary, try putting some epoxy on the crack. I drove on a leaking radiator for a week, just make sure to check your coolant levels.
If you're going to JB weld the crack, be sure to clean the area very well (ie. with Simple Green). Then make sure to sand the plastic a little, so the JB weld will adhere to the plastic.
