HELP, EXPERTS!!! I've taken apart my bellhousing and can't get it closed!
I'm changing my clutch and no whave the tranny off of the engine, but before I got it off, I accidentally took apart the bellhousing, mistaking its bolts for those that held the tranny to the engine. so now there's about 1/2"-1" of space and I can see all the gears and stuff, but I can't get it back together, nor can I take it all the way apart. My haynes manual doesn't cover transmissions in detail, and nobody in my area sells helms manuals. Is there a tutorial somewhere on the web about how to actually take a tranny apart? I've searched and all anyone says is "get a helms...."
I would take a look at this post: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=795700. Basically there are 3 or 4 different internal parts which need to line up to close the case. In addition you need to line up an internal snap ring just right.
Take a look at that post and you will see what I mean. Finish removing the transmission and reassemble the housing with it off the car. It's near impossible to do it while it's still connected to the engine block.
