Temperature Gauge on my cluster is acting funny...
I'm gonna try to give an easy description of the situation. This is on a 94 LS Integra that is turbocharged.
When driving around town, the temperature gauge acts normal and just sits at where it should be sitting.
When driving on the interstate for a prolonged period of time, the temperature gauge slowly but surely rises past the midpoint and eventually will get to the H. I pulled over plenty of times with the needle close to, or at, the H, and the car was not overheating. The motor was not overly hot, no steam or smoke, the upper radiator hose felt normal.
I noticed when the gauge is semi hot after cruising in 5th gear, and I coast in neutral, the gauge jumps up to the H very quickly.
After cruising in neutral, if I drop it to 4th and slow down gradually, the gauge comes back down very quickly to the midpoint or below the midpoint.
I repeat, I can be driving with the temp gauge at 75-90% hot for a while and there are absolutely no signs of overheating.
The kid who had the car before had indiglo gauges, so could it be just the needle that's messed up? Thermostat? Temperature sending unit?
Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.
