Auto Seatbelt problem on my DA
This one caught me by surprise today, because my car tried to keep the passenger stuck in the seat. During normal operation, the seatbelt on the passenger side only rides up the track when the door is open. The driver's side works when the key is removed from the ignition, or the door is opened. Here's what happened.
Whenever my girlfriend would open the door and the car was running, the seatbelt wouldn't release and run down the track. The only way it would work is if the car was off. I wasn't sure what part of the electrical system handles this function, but could it be some sort of loose wiring? Or maybe it's just a freak occurrence. Either way, just seeking some advice on how to go about troubleshooting this. TIA.

yup... i had something like that happen to me.. on my 91. i opened the door, everything worked fine be4, close the door, then get back in, put keys in the ignition and the belt never came back... it just beeped and beeped and beeped.. took it to acura and they fixed it for free, didnt even charge me a penny. i just went and sat in the 8 nsx's they had in show room.
found out the problem was the rubber guard that the seatbelt slides between, dries out and flakes, and a chunk got wedged in the track, causing my belt to not move foward.
i know thats not ur problem but just lettin u know, they'll fix it for free cuz its a safty issue with the car

Thanks a lot, I'm going to call the Acura dealer sometime soon and see if they'll work with me. I know two of the people in the parts department, so hopefully I have better results than most people dealing with the dealer. Thanks for all the advice/help, I thought this was something I had to fix...
