OT: Cleaning The Inside of Your Headers
Is there a good way to clean the inside of the tubing of your headers? I mean the exhaust ports on your head get caked in carbon build up so why wouldn't your headers. Wouldn't this narrow the inside diameter thus hampering performance? Especially if you tend to run rich. It could also travel down and out the entire exhaust piping really making the inside diameter smaller.

I tend to think RJ is correct on this, the heat/fire from the motor will do a pretty good job of cooking off any build up. If your not driving fast/hard you might not be getting the build up off all the way... so nail it!

Race header get dipped to remove the built up carbon. It can runs $175-$200 but can account for .5-1% gain on a race engine. Don't know if I'd do it for a street engine. You might try a hi pressure hand held car wash spray.
Nobody burns more then me, I'm up to 1 qt a day with local driving
and when I take a trip somewhere I gotta bring a case to be safe.
I highly doubt I have any significant build up in my exhaust.
