Default 6600 rpm rev limiter

i was out driving around today to pass the time. my car seemed to be feeling rather slugish lately so i decided to push it hard. for some reason it would hit the limiter at 6600 rpm. and i really couldnt feel much of a dif in performance once it hit vtec. does anyone know what may be the cause of this.

thanks in advance
frankie

Was your car completely warmed up? If so, check your oil. If that doesn't work read this thread

Oil pressure may be more of a factor than the oil level.

well i checked the oil and it was fine. so i took it for a ride to make sure that it got warmed up. because i didnt let it warm up that much ealier today when that happened. once it warmed up everything was fine. but it still feels a bit sluggish and no cel's

well it can still cause you not to be able to rev up past 6500. once i couldn't rev past 6500 and everytime i would hit the brakes hard the oil light would come on. so i ewnt to a gas station and check my oil and it wa low. i added a quart or two and everything was fine. and yes the car was wormed up all the way.

I'm not saying the oil level isn't a factor, but VTEC needs a certain oil pressure to engage. Most people relate oil pressure to the oil level and I just wanted to clarify that even though the oil level may be fine, his oil pressure may be low.
