Default OT: Why does the radar detector go off.....

...when VTEC, errr should I say I-VTEC engages in my moms CRV. Just curious if anyone knows why. It happens everytime.

I think it's a sign that you shouldn't be driving your mom's car like that

Hahaha...The V1 picks up shitty radar detectors that are suppose to be recievers too. I miss my V1. Best detector IMO.

What kind of radar detector are you (or your mom ) using in the CRV?

Which band is it setting off?

And I know for sure that my girlfriends RSX-S doesn't set off my V1.

V1? Ha ha. Yeah, they are cute...but Escort owns V1.

V1 is dated.

Oh, and as usual, Ken (nsxtasy) feel free to join in here. I think it has been too long since we debated this again.

Not even close. I had a chance to compare it against the 8500, and the V1 stomped it.

But it wasn't the X50, so I don't know how it compares against it.

don't worry, the amount of times it will save you (if it is on ) will pay for itself

just be smart

most likely there is some sort of change in the EMF of your vehicle which actually generates minimal radio frequencies that results in induction in the sensors of the radar detector, thusly setting it off.

not really.. i bought and tested both a valentine 1 and a vector 995 (beltronics) radar.. the beltronics caught more bands and was more sensitive than the valentine .. and it caught this new band, Ku, that the valentine didnt get.. and little did you know, the cop was about 1000 ft away chillin in his car, waiting for sumone to tip 70 mph in a 55 mph zone .. thank god i slowed down to 65 juz in time from 85
