Take off my intake for winter?
Ok I did a search but couldn't find anything. I have read about people taking off there intakes for winter. Why would someone do this just for winter?
I have a Comptech Icebox if that helps the question any. Thanks becasue this is my first winter with it and Im just a little paranoid.

I took my aem out for the winter but dont plan to on my comptech. I highly doubt you will need to either, given that it is much harder to get water in it. If you are severely paranoid, you could just run the intake without the box cover.
MAN!
why on earth would u take a CAI off...winter is your friend....even more hp
too be found! ur not gonna pick up any slush, just kick it off the splash guards and
happy driving

You move your intake to help prevent sucking water into the engine. You also move it because if you live in areas that require salting their roads, the intake filter gets clogged with dirt fast from all the slush water.
Move it? I have a comptech u mean turn the bottom part up? I don't understand your anser because my filter is in the stock airbox location.

if ur cars really low id take the CAI off.. my CAI was riding abou 2 inches off the floor and i think i suckd in some water in heavy rain... im guessing i did that becuz i blew my motor out of no where all for a gay as AEM CAI... all my frinds told me to take it off.. it was riding way to low to the floor. i did not listen.. i payd the price -=[ BLOWN MOTOR ! DoHHHHHH (its ok my dad jus got me a new one)
hahaha all these cali people giving bad advice
In the winter it snows. Cities put gravel and salt down on the roads. If you have a cai like AEM your filter WILL get covered in lots of gravel and salt. Theres no water, because its all frozen into ice. Snow does get into the wheel well, slush will get in there too. Basically the reason for taking the cai off in the winter is to keep the filter cleaner. You will notice a performance decreace with the short pipe style intakes, but thats ok. You should be driving slower when the roads are icy and covered in gravel.
