Do you have to use a breather or can you leave it open?

I been looking at some peoples engine bay on here. I do see a hose running from there and going down somewhere. I guess that is what I will do. Get my 10 bucks back for that garbage breather filter.
I can just use a vaccumm hose right?

why not?
why not?
I think it's better to just run a hose down to the lower part of the engine bay than use a filter because when the filter gets saturated with oil, I think it's harder for the engine to suck in air. Besides, the vacuum would never be strong enought to suck large debris that would harm the engine

Thats why you hook it up to an oil catch can and then put a filter on top of the oil catch can so the filter never gets saturated with oil and you still get a good ammount of air in. 98ctr
