If you replaced the head gasket with a thinner one, then that may be the cause of your temperature rising, because of a slight increase in compression.... unless it's alot higher... then something's not right.

Are you sure the garage put the right gasket in??? if not, you're gonna have serious problems... like if they put in a gasket from a 1.8L LS motor? It will fit but there are holes in the VTEC gasket that allow coolant and oil through that are not present on the LS gasket...

Other than that, i don't know what else it would be... has nothing to do with the valve springs, i know that much for sure...

Wish i could tell you more... either way, you're gonna have to pull the head to know for sure.... good luck!

what was the point of the head gasket?
were you raising the compression ratio (already at 10.4:1)
why just valve springs... not retainers or stainlesss valves.

have you brought this to the shops attention?

by determining what they tried to sell you, and why, it might be possible to figure out if these guys were even qualified to take your valve cover off...

Thx for advice first. The gasket replaced is normal 0.7mm, just wonder is B16A and non Vtec 1.6 Si has the same gasket or not? If so i think they may put a wrong gasket on!

if you look on the left side of the engine there should be a piece of the gasket hanging about 1/4" from the edge of the head it will have a code on there it should say PR3 on it maybe there are some extra #s but it should have pr3 on the gasket and I hope that shop rembered to but your dowl pins back in also. BTW does the coolant appear oily
