My ITR can be a love/hate relationship
I have had my ITR for a little over a year now and i love the car, performance and handling are great. But the color (Black) i chose is kinda getting to me. I didn't want yellow b/c it stood out to much for the cops around here and i didn't want white since i had a white GSR before, therefore i was only left with black which i liked. I am very uptight about how my car looks, i want it to look nice and clean all the time, and i absolutely hate any little scratch i get. I swear every time i wash my car i find a new scratch or dent on the car and it annoys the hell out of me each time. Washing my car now is becoming something i don't want to do because i am afraid i am going to find another scratch i am going to get pissed off at. I am very careful of where i park my car, what i use to clean it, and what i drive behind. As i am sure you all know black cars show everything and i do mean everything.
Just had to vent and wonder if any of you have the same problems?

Seems like your really **** about the car.
You are simply letting the car own you. You have to realize that it is a wear item and as time goes on, the car will age along with you. Enjoy it as it is and don't worry about those small things.

One thing you could do to prevent those little knicks and scratches is to wax it regularly. When my car was new I waxed the car paint and wheel paint.
But yeah it pisses everyone off man. I mean black is very unforgiving. Everything will show. But after you get enough of them you realize you can't really do anything but have fun with the car.

Welcome to my world too. I was in same boat in 2000 after totaled my 97CW R.
I hardly drive the R, maybe once a week and never winter and its still small hairline
scratches everywhere from road hazards. 4yrs later, I gave up and just enjoy the ride. Besides now I own 2 blackies and it's a suck color!

The more you analyze the situation, the more depressing it gets. Sadly enough, your car will sustain wear and there is nothing you can do about it. My advice would be to take care of it the best you can and knowing that you should be satisfied.

Word. Some of my dents and scratches have their own war stories (cones, tire walls).. others are just rocks and hail... and I have a bunch of paint abuse from Porterfield R4 brake pads... Yikes!

If you're trying to impress chicks, go to a dermatologist (and a paint shop). Otherwise, vent, get it out of your system, and paint your car camo green.

I have a black R and I feel the same. Black cars are notrious for showing blemeshes. I hate it when I see swirl marks or scratches and even the occasional dent. On Yellow and White cars those aren't as noticable. Next year I plan to do a JDM conversion and I plan to paint my R white or yellow, I just haven't decided yet....

Everyone knows that scars do, however.

No matter how much you look after its, its going to happen. To me it seems like the more fussy and paraniod that I am, the worst it gets so now I can't really be bothered as much anynmore. Stating the obvious, the only way not to have dings n scratches is to leave it in the showroom.

Yeah, a good friend of mine has a black ITR and when we washed our cars at the same time, mine always looked cleaner than his. LoL
Blacks a very hard color to maintain. It absorbs light so you tend to see every imperfection (water spots, scratches, dust). Keep her waxed i guess.
PY Rocks. hahaha

i own a bright torino red civic, but i can tell ya.. those scratches will show up whether u got black, red, white, etc ... jz like what everyone else said, jz enjoy drivin..
ive got a black ITR too and my last car was black and they do show every little dent and scratch when cleaned but f ur really worried about it go down to your nearest body shop and get them to give ur car a full CUT and POLISH. it does wonders and makes the paint look brand new. and alot of the time u'll actually get rid of all the little scratches
I had a black JDM Si integra and every time i polished it...it looked worse as all the littel marks/blemishes/scores in the paint work showed up more compared to the good parts, in the end i stopped polishing it (i had it for a year without ever giving it a coat of polish!) I now have a CW ITR and in 6 months have never polished it as the little marks etc dont show up as bad and unless you got your nose right up beside the paintwork, you dont see the little marks (especially on the edge of the hood)
no matter what you do or where you park your car will not save you from dents and scratches. it happens.
i recently had my car repainted and all the dents removed. a month later i washed my car and it was immaculate.
the next time i washed my car i noticed paint chips by the wheel well from rocks and debris.
then down the road after washing / waxing etc, i noticed a dent in the quarter panel, a scratch in the door, paint chips on the bumper from rocks...
i only drove the car for fun, not to work. just occasionally and it still happens.
you just have to deal with it.

i own a black gsr.. and washing it is even a pain.. it gets so damn hot.. and yea everything i look i think i see a new dent and go over and clean it and ****.. err.. i wanted White but found a black one so settled.
Well i rekon if ur a track / street racer ur better off with a black ITR cuz of the smoke u get from other cars infront of u ( not that they beat you ) White just shows dust and oilmarks so much!!!.
When i had my white escort 3 years ago my mate revd his nova infront of my car and he didnt notice the smoke that comes out of his exhaust, we parked up later and i just had to beat him up lol since my front was turning black, dried oil marks are a bitch to get off!

Like everyone else said, you have to learn to not let that stuff get to you. If you do this, it will make your experience of owning an ITR even better. It may be an ITR, but in the end its just a car and its not worth getting upset about.
