Default Alright so I know we have done the burning oil problem but...

Im puffing a BIG blue cloud on cold start up. Just changed my oil and filter and I am up to 20W50 Castrol. At first the heavier oil did fix the oil burning problem, but now its not. What do I have to replace if I want to do the rings? Can I do just the rings? Do I need to do the cylinder walls? I would think I would have to, but tell me if I dont. Anything I should replace with a better part?

Also Ive been having a little more time before the car turns over on a cold start. I have almost 70K miles on it.

Suggestions?

New pistons, rings, and a hone at the minimum. But if your going that far you may as well freshen up the entire short block and replace the bearings, rod bolts etc...

However, you only mention it is burning oil at start up, do you think by chance it could just be your valve seals??

You can be assured that if it was coming apart all that stuff was getting replaced anyways, 2 stroke MX bikes have taught me that. I thought I might be able to get away with it on a 4 stroke.

Well thats when the BIG puff comes. Im sure that when Im WOT its a little cloudy back there, in fact come to think of it it is cloudy back there as I have seen the head lights of the car behind me fade out a little from the smoke.

Im getting so sick of Honda motors at this point... Next year its time for a new car and this one is a dedicated track car. H2 has some new blood next year

Blue smoke at startup usually means valve seals. Do a compression test to be sure on what's causing the issue.

My GSR has leaky valve seals. Borrowed a borescope from work and looked inside after my commute home and in the morning. In the morning the tops of 1 and 4 were wet with what I presume to be oil from the valve seals.
