Words from HondaHans' family!!!
I was asked to relay a couple things to everyone on H-T from Hans Nothen's family.
First is a letter from his sister.
Hello everyone, this is Amanda Nothen, Hans’ sister. I want to start off by saying thank you so much for being a part of my brother’s life. I cannot count the times he would come over to my house and sit at my computer for hours on end to post on this website and many others. I feel I have to write this message since I was too weak to speak for my brother at his funeral services. I am not sure who wrote it exactly, but it is the truth, the posts in memory of Hans, and the support that all of you have shown is really helping my family cope with his loss. He was my brother and my best friend. He asked me numerous times to go to a race of his and I never made it to one. I will never forgive myself for this, because I know I missed the thing that he loved to do the most. No matter what I write or say, nothing can compare to how I feel… My life, along with many others will never ever be the same. I need so much to finish all of Hans’ dreams, and I want to learn everything that he tried to teach me. The first word he taught my daughter to say was VTEC. Right there says it all. My daughter would jump for joy knowing that her ‘Uncle Bubba’ was on his way to the house, and she knew because you could hear his car from blocks away. I can’t say this enough, but for everyone who has apologized to me and my family for our loss, I have to apologize back for yours too. One last thing, for those who questioned about his cause of death, my brother died from a “large heart”. How ironic, all Hans had was love and his wishes were for everyone to just love everyone else. Fluid built up in his lungs from his heart growing so large, thus making it impossible to pump properly. (Pulmonary edema secondary to left ventricular heart failure). Please feel free to contact me, or anyone in my family so we can learn more about what my brother lived for. Amanda cmndamandr@verizon.net
The next is from his mother.
To My Beloved Son,
From the beginning you were fighting to be free
Six months was enough and you said the world I must come and see.
You gave in and rested for you knew what was to come
Three months later you became my second beloved son.
Through your early childhood you were happy and content
Until the day your sister came and then did you go and vent.
But just like all true wise men you were able to decide
Which sibling’s version of events would be the winning side.
Then in your early teens which would follow throughout all your days
Your love and compassion for others could never ever be swayed.
I set you free so that your goodness and light will never fade
and always and forever you will be in my heart for the rest of my days.
I am humble and so proud to have shared your friendship and your love
May your spirit be free and lifted above.
Good Night, My Love, My son,
Your Mom

I only met him once, at this year's Hyperfest, where he helped me prep my car for the race when I was running short on time. This guy that I didn't even know was there helping take off and put on lugs for me so I didn't miss the grid. It's truly a loss for all of us.
