Default car won't start, HELP!!!

my friend has a 89 hatch. he just bought it and it has been sitting for two years.

it is a dual-port motor and it is dumping fuel like crazy into the intake. if you unplug the injectors it almost wants to start, but won't. if it does start it will only run for a few seconds and you can give it no gas or it will die, it dies with or without the injectors plugged in.

he's obviously getting fuel
he replaced the coil and is getting spark
replaced the plugs
checked the fuel relay and it is ok

we just can't understand why it is dumping so much fuel?

any suggestions?

I would take the injectors out and have them cleaned. There's a possibilty that after sitting for so long, there is crude built up inside the injectors not allowing them to work properly.
