Default smoke under the battery???

ive got a 3rd gen ls. recently my whole heater/ac thing hasnt been working. so i just guessed it was my fuse. so i go change the fuse with the exact same amp it was before(7.5). i turn my car on again and i turn on the ac.. the light flickers and goes off. i check the fuse again and its been poped. so i pop in a higher amp. i put in 15. same thing. then i put in 25..my ac stays on! but the thing is, i noticed smoke coming from under my glove compartment.. then i poped my hood and noticed that the smoke was coming from under the battery/fuse area. what should i do? im sure i have a short someplace. would it be where the smoke is coming from? help! tia =

you should probably check your alternator. also check your batteries for leaks. It could be that the smoke is filling up your engine bay, but you have an additional hole in your fire wall causing it to come into your interior. But test your alternator and battery
anyone else?
good luck

you got a serious short somewhere. check all your major grounds. take the battery out and see what under the tray that could be smoking, you probably fried a wire messing with the fuss's. if the oem size fuse pops when you turn on the a/c WHY WOULD YOU UP THE AMPERAGE? thats just stupid. its popping for a reason. your blower motor might be caught, or a wire touching ground. check everything.

lol. i found out my problem. the fuse box under my hood has 3 black big fuses. well, when i was checking them, one of them had broekn clips and stoff. the other 2 had the clips so i knew which way to put them back in. but the 3rd one.. i put it in backwards. stupid me. well, that fixed my problem.
