Converting to 4-lug from 5 lug. Would this be a downgrade?
I began to search for wider lighter wheels in 15 inche and I've noticed that the lightweight low price 15 inch wheels are mostly available for 4 lug patterns.
With that I have began to think about changing to a 4-lug suspension.
Is the ITR 4 lug the same as teh ITR 5 lug in regards to brake calipers and rotor diameter? or is it the same as a standard Integra 4lug?
Besides the benefit of weight reduction, and the widely availabel wheel sizes, any other benefits?
what are the downfalls?
Any other things to consider or concerns as well as comments?
thanks

please don't... stick to stock.
the 4 lug ITR brakes are the same as the ls/gs-r with just a different bolt pattern.
whats wrong with your stock wheels?

They're are actually quite a few wheels in 5lug now. The 4lug setup is not the same as the 5lug, the 5lug setup stops quicker, and is a different brake setup.
Some wheels I'd look @.
ATS complite 15x7 +35 ($400)
Kosei K1 15x7 +38 ($500)
SSR Comp 15x7.5 (can't recall the exact offset wanna say it was in the 40's) ($1400)
Esses also makes a 15x7 5lug wheel they are around $400 too

I am looking at 7.5 and 8 most likely 8.
Then again if I want to spend the money on the conversion I might as well put that for the more expensive wheels.
Either way the weight reduction may be good if I can get better brake calipers.

Unless $$ is no object, and you're willing to spend whatever it takes to make it work, why? I know serious drag racers have converted their Rs to 4-lug in front, but that's so they can fit those teensy 13-inch wheels on there.
Unless you've got a serious competition-related reason for doing this, it would probably be a downgrade.

This for auto-x in SM, just looking to put some more meat on the ground and help bring up the speeds on corners.
But i don't want to sacrifice braking in the process.

You can special order 15x8" 5-lug wheels. I'd do that waaaay before I ever thought about switching to 4-lug.
I have a set of 15x8" Volks for my ITR, and there are other companies that make them as well. Heck, you can get a 15x9 on there if you run a stiff enough spring and get creative with the fenders.

Todd00 - Where did you order your wheels through?
thanks</TD></TR></TABLE>
Dave @ R&D can get them for ya. My 15x8 TE37's are about 10-11 lbs or so.
Or, Tirerack will drill out a set of Kosei K1's in a 5x114 15x8. They are about 13-14lbs, but a lot cheaper.

if its a stricklly autox car. this is a good argument. switching to 4x100 susp. (gsr) has some benefits. you can fit 13x8 rims, which you could benefit from. lighter/wider. and smaller diameter, (better gaering efect) but you would loose the size of your brakes, so in a sense your downgrading the brakes. but you have to out weight the pros vs cons. as for autx you really don't go as fast as you would in a track. so maybe gsr brakes with upgraded pads and rotors would be good enough.
talk to a few autox guys, jermy, chok,rj (from acutec). even go for a ride with them. they can give you input on how much brakes you need.

13" wheels are not the way to go on such a heavy car (relatively speaking)--especially in SM where you can make all the power and change the gearing around all you want.
Ask Rodney about this.
