European ITRs - what oil are you using?
Everywhere here I see some strasnge oil types like 5W30, 10W30, 20W30 that are not common here in Europe. We usually have 15W40 mineral, 10W40 blended, 5W40/0W40 synthetic and other specials as 5W50, 10W60 etc.
What are you Europeans using for your ITR? I've heard that 5Wxx and 0Wxx are not good for bearings, oil consumption etc. I also don't know if the 0W/5Wxx ones are good for high stress/temperature (track use).
My used ITR '98 has 5W50 synthetic inside from the previous user. I'm thinking about changing it for 10W40 blended. What do you use and why?

I'm not european but I've used european oil :D
Normally use 10-30W or 0-40W - kinda try and stay in manufacturers spec.
50W is a thicker oil... it'll protect better if you thrash it alot, but it feels a bit sludgy....
the thinner oils feel better
Personally I normally stick to Mobil 1 but I also love repsol Competition elite 0-40W
I find that repsol actually makes the engine quieter and smoother... but I need to change it earlier otherwise it thins out quite a bit.

Motul France says that their 300v 5w30 for street use and 5w40 for track is fine.
If you run an excessively rich ECU program, you may want to use the 15w50 as it is more resistant to break down.
For the tranny, they say the Gear 300 Competition 75w140 is the way to go(Group N), but I tried it and I had synchro issues and medium rpm shifts. I suspect that on the track this is a non issue.

That's not new oil then. Fresh 5W-50 is not like water. In Europe between 0W-40 and 5W-50 is most commonly used.

Yes, it is. This 5w50 oil is much thiner than Valvoline 10w40 that I used before in my Prelude. I think this is correct, since the first number indicates how thin is the oil in low temperatures (ambient temp is also "low"). IMO
. The second number indicates how high can the temperature raise before the oil cracks (doesn't lube). IMO
