so around where i live you can get a maximum of 91 octane gas straight up, the only station that has higher(94) is mohawk. I dont know if americans have mohawks aswell but i do know that thier gas is methanol mixed. apparently this is to prevent gas lines from freezing up in the winter, acts like an antifreeze.
anyways i just wanted to know what the deal is with methanol mixed gas and what people think.
the only reason this is in FI is because you guys are the only guys who have big enough detonation problems to know and care

I would prefer to use 100% gasoline, but here on Long Island I think ALL gas is 10% Ethanol or Methanol. Still, if it's a choice between 94 octane with 10% methanol or 91 octane straight gas, I'd go with the 94.
Do they really use Methanol? That's scary; Methanol will cause blindness and paralysis if you breath in too much of the vapor.
In the States most gasoline used during the Summer months has a 5-10% Ethanol mix. (Ethanol = grain alcohol = perfectly safe) At least this is true in Washington. There is nothing wrong with this. It might reduce power output slightly but also cleans out the fuel system, reduces emmissions and prevents detonation.
