Default NEED SOME HELP!!!!! Come on guy, let me know!!

went to the track today hoping to run a mid 14 without nos and break into the 13's with the nos. got to the staging light, and revved up. popped the clutch, and SNAP!!!!. axle broke. i have never heard of anyone snapping an axle with the amount of hp i have. i always thought it took over 300 hp to snap one like the pro racers do. anyways, the 2 inch part with the thread is stuck inside the tranny end. any ideas on how to get it out?? i thought maybe taking out both axled and using a small wooden dow and hammer the broken piece out form the other end might work. any ideas???? and the axle snapped clean off, i couldnt FUC_ING believe it. it was my first run too. Sucked major ***. anyways cost me 50 bucs to tow home and look like an *** pusing it down the side track. hehe let me know what oyu guys think. i need some help

is your car lowered? if it is that puts extra stress on the axle, combine that with how hard on your car it is to drag race and snapping an axle seems minute to what I have seen happen to many cars.
to get it out: if you have the right tools you could do it, you would need a tap & die set and a drill with a half inch bit
1) drill in the end of the broken piece
2) tap 1/2" threads into the hole
3)screw a fairly long half inch bolt into the hole and use the bolt as leverage to pull it out of the hole

if this seems extreme to you I can't think of anyhting else as of right know but wiil look at my repair manual and see if I can come up with any beeter ideas

Well how much HP are you putting down to the track? You have to realize that the tracks are going to grip like mad bitches so.... I don't know, that is pretty odd depending on how much hp/torqueyou're putting down.

Or, what I would do is what you (thread starter) suggested, take the other axle out and use a punch to knock the piece of the broken axle out, asuming you have a stock differential..

running street tires, no NOs, just h22 with lsd, act street dius, extreme pres. plate, and fidanza light. flywheel and more mods. but i think those mods are the ones that rally matter with torque

Whether it's broken at the intermediate shaft or the differential, I think the only way is going to be push or pull it from either end. Should be pretty easy once you remove the intermediate shaft.

That's funny, the same exact thing happened to me. Only it broke at the top of first gear. I was running street tires as well. I have a 92 accord with a 95 H22 and just intake, headers, exhaust. My axle broke exactly where yours broke, right at the intermediate shaft. I ended up doing what you did to get out the broken piece, only i had to do the repairs at the track. Thank goodness for some friendly pros for some assistance.

I was luck enough to find a Pep Boys that had one. A friend of mine is roomates with the manager there and he called and lucky for me they had one. They even took my broken one as a core. I dare not to dragrace without putting at least an original Honda one in again. The one that broke wasn't O.E. and that was only my second time at the track with that one. It was a 2 day event, so I left the car there overnight and fixed it in the morning.
