Default Cruising w/ Skunk2 Exhaust

I think I've checked every thread pertaining to the megapower exhaust and I've basically gotten the message that its loud, but not super loud. I dont really care how it sounds once I open the car up because at that point I know nobody is around to worry about (people, 5-0), but I want something that is only somewhat noticable at regular driving revs (shifting around 3,250 - 4,000). I would get something like the Apexi WorldSport or Greddy SP2, but I'd imagine the power gains arent as big. Would the Skunk2 still be a good choice?

I'm not sure about tegs, but on my friends old civic the Skunk 2 was almost unbearable. We took a 3 hour trip and I had the worst headache at the end. It was so damn loud. And we were cruising at 4000rpms.

just for reference. I got a greddy evo. Its tolerable, but its noisy enough that you have to conciously speek a little louder than normal inside the car. Ive heard thats a in the middle of the chard as far as loudness, or something....

Your Greddy must be weird. Mine is pretty quiet unless I'm up near redline. I can wisper to my friends in the car and still hear them. I have no back either.

Thanks for the advice. On the topic of the RSR though, aside from the price difference, isn't it a whole different kind of muffler? Wouldnt pretty much any straight through muffler design (skunk2, N1, Tanabe...) flow better than a traditional kind of exhaust (RSR, Apexi WS, Greddy SP...)?

RS-R Ex-Mag, . A'PEXi WS II is a great exhaust, I have a friend with an Accord, only makes noise when you are at WOT. I like that exhaust a lot.

I recently got a Skunk2. It's very loud without the silencer, but with the silencer it's not bad at all. A little more bass sound than the normal exhaust, but otherwise not a problem. My girlfriend doesn't even mind it...

Some things I like about it are that it's all stainless steel (not coated mild steel), and the construction quality is excellent. All the welds are robotic and look perfect.

On the downside, the resonator seems to hang a little low. Any other Skunk2 owners notice this too?

Thanks alot for the help. Doesn't using the silencer pretty much eliminate any power gains that would be had using that exhaust over the stock one though?

Not that I can tell; it just seems to eliminate a lot of the loud bass sound. Of course, this is just using the butt-dyno, so YMMV.

haha, i guess its not too hard to keep the silencer in most of the time then pull it out when you "need it"

how would a silencer in the tip of the exhaust effect performance? the 2.5 piping comes right up till like 6 inches before the end of the exhaust and then size of the silencer is the same.

I have the skunk 2 on my 92 ls without the silencer and it isnt loud at all 3-4 on a scale of 10 for being loud
