How can I identify a del sol dual core rad?
I just bought what is supposed to be an aftermarket del sol dual core rad, but I'm not sure how to tell if its really a dual core rad.
How thick should it be?

very very easy.
its twice as thick as your stock one. stock one is about 5/8" thick (core, not tanks). del sol vtec one is about 1-1/4" thick. very very noticeable; you don't need a measuring tape to tell the two apart!

ps i have an all metal one, barely used, for sale. best offer!

Will it fit a 95 Civic Ex Coupe (EJ1)? If so, how much? PM me.

both of you are wrong, a single core civic rad is about as wide as a pencel you can fit two pencels in this things width.. hence its a DUAL core rad.
go look under the hood of a SOHC 92-95 civic, you will see

that looks the same as the one that I bought; 1" thick. But there'd only one row of holes inside. But its aluminum so I wonder if that would make up for not being dual core?
here is a picture of my del sol vtec radiator for sale. noticably thicker than the one you have. and its all metal, too:

Ugggh, I guess you haven't seen a del sol dual core before. go look under the hood of a SOHC 92-95 civic, you will see</TD></TR></TABLE>
Ok. I have a 95 SOHC and slammed_93_hatch's looks just like mine. I definitely have a stock single core. Todd Reid's is a dual core, slammed_93_hatch's is most definitely single core.
See pic. Stock single core SOHC out of my 95 hatch. Most definitely smaller than Todd Reid's dual core.

How many rows of passages are inside your rads?
The 78 civic rad I have now is actually a dual core rad, its about 2" thick. I'm worried it might be clogged though.

Hmmm, I guess I'm wrong then. Yours looks just like mine. The del sol dual cores I've seen all have been as thick as Todd Reid's.

Ditto. Todd Reid's is a dual core, while slammed's is a single core. I have seen plenty of single and dual core rads. I dont know what you had in there before, but the one you have in there now is a single core...bottom line.

Agreed.
It's real simple to tell... dual core should be as wide as the end tanks where as single core's are thinner then the end tanks.
BTW, I don't think all sohc civics had single core. When I did my swap I ordered a dual core del sol vtec radiator. When I got it, it was exactly like the one already in the civic. Since it was an EX with the 1.6 sohc vtec I gues it had a dual core to begin with. Either that or when the previous owner rear ended someone and it got fixed they just put in a dual core instead of a single??? I still replaced it though so I could have a fresh new radiator.
AS far as the pencil analogy... eek, 1 pencil is damn thin so I'm not sure what off the wall brand that was but eeek. But to use the pencil scale, a single core would probably be about 2 pencils and the dual core 4 pencils
Again a dual core should be as thick as the end tanks, if it is not then it is single core
