anyone recommend speakers?
can anyone recommend some speakers for me? I'm not a major audiophile so I am not looking to buy subs/amps etc... Just a good set of speakers for all four corners of my car. I do want it to sound pretty good but I'm not looking to sound like a freaking mobile party. I've been looking on http://www.indoaudio.com because they have good prices from what I can see.

Yeah I understand what you're looking for. But you're still gonna prob wanna get a 4 channel amp regardless. I wouldn't reccommend running any kind of high quality speaker on deck power which is usually at max 22 watts rms per channel where as a "real" speaker is prob looking more for about 75-150 watts rms. If you got about 1500 to drop you can get a crystal clear stereo system with good midbass. My reccomendation would be Focal polykevlar k2 componenets in the front. Polykevler 6x9's in the rear running off a Audison (italian) 4 channel amplifier. I Have been doing car audio for almost 5 years and the cleanest amp I've ever installed would be an audison its expensive but well worth the dough. That's my 2 cents.

sure, some of you guys list some expensive speakers...
SirRevvs, in one of my cars i went from Focal Utopia 165 W3 three way components, to Seas Lotus Reference. i like the Seas better. you can get them for about $850 a set.
by the way, Audison amps are very nice... i can only think of a couple that are better, but not by much.
Andrew D, although i absolutly love my Morel home speakers, we have not had much luck with the car speakers... nice pure quality, but i think they need to do a little more work in the car enviroment. they have the home enviroment nailed though.
however, this does deviant1 no good... he's looking for inexpensive full range speakers.
seeing that you are looking on eBay, at Indoaudio, i get the idea of your price range. as cheap as possible, but decent sounding.
as many have suggested, Infinity is pretty good for the money. because you are going to use them full range, and without a sub, i suggest going with the cheaper Reference line.
the Kappa and Perfect lines are much better, however without a sub and amps and using a high pass filter, they are not what you need.
the Reference line does do pretty good on the low bass when used full range. it has a pretty good balance of high, mid, and low. no real flat spots that are real noticable.
however, SirRevvs is absolutly right. even a small 4 channel amp will make a huge difference. you dont mention what you have for a head unit... the common aftermarket head unit has about from 18 to 22 watts RMS at about 5% distortion. if you are using a factory head unit, it can be as low as 12 watts RMS with the same distortion. very difficult to make it sound good, as when you turn it up loud enough to clearly hear it above the road noise, that 5% distortion is very noticable.
even a small 25 watt x 4 RMS amp will make a huge difference, as the distortion rating will be less than 1 % at that 25 watts. if it's a quality small amp, it can be as low as .005 % total Harmonic distortion at the rated wattage.
hooking up a small amp is not very hard. you dont need huge power wires, as the current draw is not that high in small inexpensive amps. you can hide it under the seat too.
that would make those Infinity's sound really good.
