Now im finnaly getting to the final stage of completing my buildup and im wondering if i should invest in a baffeled oil pan because of the horror stories i've seen of oil starvation during cornering.

would you guy recomend this purchase for a car that will see light hpde/autocross events?

Baffled oil pan = insurance but not cheap.
Either mugen or Spoon should be fine OR if you have good welding skills or know someone DIY.

You can send your pan to "Doctor Cortez", for baffling. He ususally hangs out in the RR forum.

here is his thread

I have a mugen pan, no problems at all - the cost is very reasonable.

Most definately especially when you factor in the money you get for selling your stock if you choose to do so.

look at it this way. the d00d who owns Spoon says to take an R on the the track it needs only 2 items: high performance brake pads and a baffeled oil pan.

~20 HPDEs + 117,000 miles & no baffled oil pan. Maybe I should corner faster

I'd like to get one though ;-)

Geez thank God I thought I was the only one on earth still.

Well, maybe I'll just have to install that uber tiny Hamp filter Marc donated at the last R-Speed Christmas grab bag... What's that supposed to do again? Increase pressure? Will that be even close to the same thing? Not! Oh, well maybe I'll install it just for kicks then.

I run a Mugen in my kaa.

Free advice: Check your oil often!!!!! Dont let the oil get near the "low mark/bottom hole" on the dip stick. Ask me how I know

I am usually slightly under-full (up to 1/2 qt) and have not had any problems.

i sent my pan to jamie back in march or so and it was back to me within 4 or 5 days. i've been out on track with it for about 8 or 9 track days. unfortunately i've never had an oil pressure gauge so i can't say whether it's doing anything or not. all i can commen on is the workmanship, top notch, and the fact that i've drainded my oil at least 4 times this year and nothing other than oil has come out. i'll probably drop the pan at some point soon just to check on everything.
