You talking about the actual shaft that comes through the tranny... With splines that go into the block?

If im not mistaken, you need to pull the tranny apart to get the interior gears out... Maybe im wrong though.

I cant make heads or tails of that pic either... WTF am i looking at?

It almost resembles the ... wait - no it doesn't.
WTF is that?

Are you having problems opening up the tranny?
That's how you get to the shafts.

I was thinking that pic was of the snap ring that has to get opened up to take the tranny apart.
If that's what it is, it's a crappy picture and a 4 year old could draw it better.

I work at Advance and thats a stupid diagram. When we get that pic, it is a seal. So when he looked up 'output shaft' he actually pulled up a seal. They are trying to show you that its a circle towards the bottom of the engine.

Thats the pic you get when theres not an actual pic.

I think I figured out what that is!!!!

It appears to be the seal!
The seal is a round doughnut deal.
The pic appears to be a cross-section of it so you can see what's in the seal.

The shaded area is the rubber portion of it.
The white area is the metal insert that makes it somewhat rigid.
The circle is the circle metal spring thing.

You can pry the seal out.
I have done it before - you get a screwdriver and pry against the metal insert in different points to break it free and then pry it completely out.

I don't know if you will be able to do it with the output shaft still installed... you might though??!?!
I can't remember if the seal goes in from the inside of the tranny or from the outside.
