starter is smoking.... (93 auto accord)
Well i've been having some starter issuse for about 6 days now.
Today it really struggled to get it to start. This evening I did on me at my cousins house.
I was cranking it at least 5-6 time when i notice smoking coming from the engine bay. I poped the hood and it was coming right under the starter.
now my question is this:
1) smoking from the starter means?.... bad starter alone or possible altenator too?
2) does MSD 6al cause premature ware to the starter cause of extra spark/amp?

when my starter went, it smoked a shitload under the hood, it was just the starter for me so i would assume so for u as well, my alt is still fine 8 months later
Smoking starter = almost dead starter.
Either you are cranking the starter for to long so it is overheating, or, it is simply taking a dump.
Alternator has nothing to do with this.
same as ignition coil (msd)

Hahaha.... sounds like the starter armature got stuck (stayed engaged into the flywheel) and the engine was spinning the crap out of the starter. That happened on my uncles boat a couple years ago... started smoking all over the place, LOL. Definitely time for a new starter
