when driving my car, i get the code 23 (knock sensor) after i hit vtec....i usually don't get this code. then i turn off the car, and back on, and the code dissapears. i'm currently using stock p30 ecu for my b16a gen2.

anyone having this same problem or how to solve? thanks.

 

I'm havin' the same prob..but I only throw a code when the motor(b16a) is under load...i.e. accelerating, going uphill, etc....

Mine throws b/c I haven't wired in the knock sensor, but I'm sure this isn't the case for you....could be a bad knock sensor though......

 

check your timing, you might get slight knock when you crossover to vtec, are you running premium on that motor?

sorry for late reply, i've done my timing belt alignment TDC and ignition timing correctly. i'm currently using gas #92, not premium. I figured i should do an oil change, so now i'm using mobil 1 5w30 w/ mobil 1 filter.

i've checked my p30 ecu and it doesn't look like there's any wire going into the knock sensor port (D3). i think this is the case that i need to wire it up. anybody with b16a gen2 swap into eg chasis had to do this?

 

yeah eg chassis dont have a wire in there for the knock sensor..wire it up to the right ecu pin...

 

i've been reading and people say it has 1 wire...and others say it has 2 wires...i'm stumped but 1 wire sound reasonable to me because it's only D3.

i checked my knock sensor and it has 2 wires going into it...hmmm

how many wire(s) does it have? my plug was gray...not green (gsr) like the one pictured:

 

its 1 wire..and its a shielded wire at that..any heat or radio interference will make it throw a code..

or just be lazy like me and run a chipped p28

 

my knock sensor is "red" and "yellow w/ black stripe". i wired the yellow w/ black stripe wire straight to D3 and the code stopped. maybe i wired the wrong wires that actually plugs into something else??

hmmm what are the stock colors of the wires for the knock sensor?

 

just run any ond wire .. i run speaker wires for vtec,,, just buy or reuse pins.. dont forget to soder

 

the knock sensor wire on my 95 gsr is red with a blue stripe not sure if its the same on a b16 ( although i dont see why it wouldnt be ).
