Exhaust backfires?
for the past month after i installed my 7.5lbs flywheel my exhaust seems to backfire and it never used to do this before....is this normal? or is my car just running rich? this started happening after i installed my flywheel and b16 tranny.....i know a tranny and flywheel isnt gonna make my car run rich....rite? Anyway if anyone has any clue on why this is happening please share the knowledge....thanks
what kind of exhaust do you have and how long has it been on the car? usually the exhaust won't backfire right away, but after it is broken in it will backfire more often. this might not help at all, but it's an idea
well for the person who asked wat kind of exhaust it was its a greddy SP2..........................OK guys thanks for the replies, i think i know wat may be the problem tell me if im rite....i installed a header about 2 months ago, wen i took off the stock one i broke both the bolts that are holding in onto the cat.....so i jus bought some bootleg bolts from homedepot.....and as of now those are holding the header to the cat. and i have this nasty 0.5 - 1 inch gap from the header to the cat so i know for sure theres a leak. i always thought that was never a big deal but maybe its the cause of my problem......Also wen i took off the stock header is there suppose to be a gasket in between the header and the cat? maybe thats another reason for my leak? again thanks for all the replies!

87 octane? so using cheaper fuel would solve this? i been using 93 for almost a year now and it only started this summer wen i put the header, flywheel and tranny on the car.....i wish i installed them one at a time so i could know which mod is to blame.......anyways can someone explain why 87 octane would solve this?
