Falken Azeni or similar...experience?
I have 15" toyo proxes T1-S now, but switching to 16" Slipstreams in a while.
I'm having wall rolling issues, and it's hard getting grip with my modded B16 and stuff.
How do the Azenis hold op with wear...compared to the toyo's?
How are they in the wet...compared to toyo's.
Not winter...just wet. I have a set of winter wheels.
Any experiences? Comparisons? Advices?

Does it rain feequently in your area? I have not had a set of Azenis but I have heard many times from different people that they suck in the rain.
The azenis are really good tires...but they wear a little quick for me. They grip really well in the corners but not as much as id like in the straight line due to the raelly stiff sidewalls. They can also get a little scary in the rain...especially on the hwy. In my opinion the best tires for the street right now are the avs es100's. Theyre nice and grippy in the corners and in a straight line, they wear really well, handle great in the rain, and they dont have near as much road noise as the azenis. I havent had any experience with the T1-S but ive heard that tehy are also great tires. I love my Yok's
Azenis are amazing, I also heard they hydro plain in the rain so I just threw on some Falken Ziex in the rears and Azenis in the front
Ive now got a spare set ot azenis in the garage and a good all around tire
Azenis + New driver + Nitrous = ******* sweet weekend for me

I agree - I don't trust my crx in the rain with the Azenis; they're a little too quick to give out.
But, if you really want to have white knuckles, drive 'em in snow. I did once, not by choice, and it was scary as hell going 20 mph w/ 1/2" of snow on the ground. Would make for a killer snowdrifting setup, though.
For dry weather, I have no complaints; when these die, I'm getting another set, no doubt about it.

thats weird, my azenis worked perfect in the rain, once i was showing them off to a freind on how good they work in the rain, i was in a empty parking lot, i floored it to about 50, pulled the ebrake and turned the wheel, no slide, i came to a stop almost immidiately , it was rather dissappointing that i couldnt ebrake drift anymore.
i loved my azenis, id get them again but there too expensive for 16 inch, id also recomend the avs es100's i know of 4 other people that have them and love them.

I agree, for all those people who say Azenis are scary in the rain... drive slower, they are just fine, freeway, city, or whatever else. You want scary... drive them in 4" of snow like I did, they "grip" while u move but driveways, speed bumps or hills will have you getting out and pushing.
EDIT: guess I'm not the only one to do this... didn't read the last couple posts!

when i was looking for tires for my wheels (15") i was looking at the azenis, but they were on backorder everywhere i looked, then i found Yoko ES100, and they were just as good as the azenis (on charts), and they actually got better tread wear and wet traction ratings for the same price.
I'm very happy with the choice i made, and these ES100 STICK to the road.. it flash flooded the other day, and i mashed the gas and the tires did not let go of the ground. they really hold to the road.
But i have heard good things about azenis as well.

If you look at the Falken site, they tell a little about the design of the tire for weather.
For the Azenis Sport RT-215
"The Azenis Sport asymmetrical tread pattern was designed for maximum dry weather performance"
If you look at the St-115 Azenis (offered for the 16", but not a 15"
) they wrote
"Wide cicuferential grooves and unidirctional tread design help provide excellent wet-weather performance."
I was looking at a page last week that had lots of data about the tire testing and the two tires did fairly similar for dry handling, but there was a BIG difference for wet. The 115's did MUCH betrer.
And as for a consumer comparison:

You don't live that far from me.
There hasn't been any real rain for you to test those tires in.

I tossed my T1S because the sidewalls were just giving out and bowing. you could see the scuff marks half way down the tire. tried different tire pressures and it just doesn't work. I tossed those and now use the Kumho 712's for my daily driver. I like them so far, but I only drive from point A to B on them. cheap and good all around tire for the dry pavement and wet.
i have multiple track events, god knows how many autox's.... plus 12k (or more) of street driving on my azenis....
they are great in the rain! i find the longer you ride on them the slower they wear.... grip doesnt go away to the extent you would think. I spent 5 laps at VIR full course over driving the tires (slightly on purpose) and they then began to show a little sign of getting greasy. EFs are light, and generally pretty good on tires if you are smooth with them. oh and they withstand some major plowing/driving on the autox tracks with minimal flat spotting. the only time they come off my car is when there is a threat of snow.... they wont work at all (well they might but it would get interesting) in the snow... so i drop some steelies with all seasons on there. there isnt a tire out there that can beat them for the price either!
BTW- i might be at half tread on them! they wear fine!
