i hope i did not break anything....
last night i did my usual oil change....drained the oil, changed oil filter and refilled it wid new oil and some lucas.......i did this at about 1 am in the morning so it was kinda dark....after this i ended up wid the munchies so i went to Dunkin Donuts which is about a block away from my house. On my way back from Dunkin Donuts i realize my engine is smoking like crazy so i pull over and check my oil and realiz there is nothing left...so i look under my car and theres puddles of oil everywhere.....i know i tightened the drain plug and the oil filter tight. cause before i left for some food i checked everything over again....anyway the oil seems to be leaking from the oil filter!! Could i have gotten a faulty filter???? What the hell caused this!! i really hope i dint F#$K anything up!!
did you remove the old gasket from the block?
On most filters there is a rubber gasket....sometimes that gasket sticks to the engine when you remove the old filter and when you put the new filter on over the old gasket... leaks..oil squirting out even!

yeah man check to make sure that the old gasket came off with the old filter! otherwise you are doubleing up those gaskets which was cause a leak for sure....and if the filter went on really easy as usual im sure you didnt cross thread it. you would be able to feel that. dont get so high next time you change your oil! hahah

As stated above, check for the old gasket. I had the same thing happen to me a couple years back. Now, I make sure that the old gasket is off.
lol yeh u might have just not noticed if the rubber gasket came off with the old filter or not and put the new filter on on top of the old gasket..buy more oil,the filter is probably still ok,but pull it off and check the block to see/feel if the old gasket is stuck on there..
Maybe you accidently drop the gasket on the new filter and the filter is on without the gasket. This happen to me before my honda prelude but luckily I noticed it right after the start the engine.

Munchies Huh?..... Could this be the reason? Just messing, the rubber ring on the filter may be stuck to the engine and caused you to double up the gaskets. I used to work for Scottsdale Acura, I used to see cars come in for oil leaks only to find it was usually a doubled gaskets or a doubled crush washer. Happens all the time. Hopefully nothing major. At least you were using Lucas oil additive. May have saved your engine.

like everyone said double gasketed.
this has happend to me alot of times working at an automotive shop in a rush.
ive seen double gaskets, to people forgetting to put the drain plug on, or even forgetting the filter.
however, one thing i know, is that even if it has been double gasketed, and you tighten it well, it will NOT leak.
always look and feel the block to make certain that your old gasket is not on there.
good thing you didnt go off too far and only a block.
motor should be okay.

Or you might of overtightened the filter and snapped the original seal. When you install the filter, remember to get the old seal off
, and then oil up the new seal.
, and then oil up the new seal.
